I would like to take the attached graphic, which has a transparency to it, and make a sticker for the TMUF paiter program. I have tried several times and can't get the graphic to appear correctly when used. The graphic does show up in the stickers correctly but does not show up on the car correctly. I resized the original, converted it to a .DDS file, still unuseable. Can you show me how to do it? What settings must I insure when I save the file in .DDs form?

it's always a good idea to analyse the existing graphics files in the folder.

if i recall correctly, the "good" stickers are stored in TGA format with transparency, right? that's the stuff i'd try, along with the same resolution they have.

You must not compress the picture when you save/edit it !

Here is the completed sticker. Unzip the file into the My Documents/TrackMania/Painter/ directory. It will create a "Stickers" directory and it will add the "TOG logo" directory and the Sticker.tga and the Icon.dds.
Check out the structure and sizes and use them as a template for future stickers. To make a new sticker just make a new directory in the Stickers directory and put a Sticker.tga(make an alpha channel for the transparency) and a Icon.dds(64x64pixel DXT1A) into it.

Thanks Doc, you got a better result than I did. The graphic still has horizontal and vertical flares or lines coming from it, when you place the sticker on the car. That is what I am trying to get rid of. Attached is the snickered car. You can see that there are flares coming from the sticker.

You must have sent the wrong one. It is just the Barracuda with no stickers.
JUst send the sticker'directory zipped up. That will be what I'm intrested in.

Yes, I am sorry, I did send the wrong car graphic. Anyway, here is the zipped sticker directory. The graphic that we are working on is in the sub directory TOG. I sent the car again.

Here is why there is a bleed in the sticker. The sticker you made is cropped too close to the image. It bleeds because there is no white at the edge of the image OR black area of an alpha channel bordering the image.
If white doesn't border the image the non-white color is "bled" out across the car. The same condition applies to the black area of an Alpha channel if the non white part of an image continues to the edge of the sticker. You need either, or, or both conditions to be true for the sticker to be successful.
Just open the TOG sticker again in photo editor that can display the alpha channel along with the Red, Green, Blue channel and you will quickly see what I mean.


Solution: don't crop so close next time. No need to anyway.

Thanks Doc for pointing out the cropping problem. Unfortunately the original graphic was cropped in this manner, so I guess I will have to deal with touching up the flares from the sticker. I will try to locate the same graphic which has not been cropped. Thanks again for your support.

No need to go looking.
Just make a blank image a bit bigger than the logo and copy and past the logo into it. It will usually be centered when pasting. If not drag it into place and save.
