hmmm ... I don't understand.
I did the same envi as in the tut, used the same link as on this page, checked if everything was the same.
I was able to open the map but it just showed the standart snow bg -.-"
Why doesn't this work for me?

Cool

Which mood? Which Background? Because there are some incompatibilities (i have tried to change background on an old 'Simple' mood) but as soon as there is an incompatibility between Challenge/Background/Mood, you have 2 choices:
- Crash of the game
- Reset by the game to the standard background

well. I opened the alpine background and built a sign.
And in the hexeditor i wanted to change it to coast. As that didn't work I changed the word Coast to Speed. That didn't make any difference either. I checked if everything else was fine with the link and the Dword.

Btw: when I use the false link sometimes my sign is in a redwine colour or in the black and
red checker-board patter. Is that fine?

- Did you save the Gbx after you modify it in the Hexa Editor?
- Did you reload the challenge in the TM editor after change?
- Which background image did it gave you while you load the challenge?
-- The image would give the same enviro as the one used for the background on the map. So if you take a snow challenge and put a speed backgroun, you have also the speed image during loading.
-- If the image is black, there is incompatibility (background not understood by the game, ...)

If you modify the mod after the background (using CTRL when load challenge in editor), it reset the background to the standard.

If you modify Background on a 'mod' challenge, you still have the loading image of the mod, but it's nor applied on the challenge (rally has the standard mod, Stadium background has the standard mod)

So: Background change + mod = impossible.

The image you have during loading of the challenge (behind the yellow bar). It's sometime black (no image) if there is incompatibility.

Are you sure you modified the zone AFTER the thunbnail (not the one at the start or the file)? If it still show you snow, your modification is not taken into account. You should have Coast image (except if you put a mod like explained juste above)

hmmm, ok.
But I've never had no image yet.

And yes, I've always edited the part at the very bottom.
Where it tells me the map-name, the author name, mood, envi, and the blockslist.

Could you post your map?

Yes but there is the same zone (map-name, author name, ...) in the same format at the start of the file. This zone is used in the menu (you can have a Speed icon in the menu on a Rally map Naughty ) But the modification don't work with the false URL solution. Need to correct other dword's

Speed Icon, Stadium image (and background) and rally mapBleh
