hmmm ... do u mean I have to overwrite or really insert?

EDIT: I'm sorry, but I don't get the part where you say we deleted 9 for coast ...
And in my hex-editor there is no 3E either. It already was a 35. Or did i get that wrong too?
please help. ^^

and a medal or award for this great tutorial!

The 3E only applies if you are using the false URL I suggested you use in the tutorial. If the amount of characters differs then obviously it won't be the same. You actually have to insert the string. This insertion is also why the file is now *number of bits* longer.
For some reason the URL gets shortened here on TMC so here:
Code:
http://False.URL.com/Text_To_Delete_To_Get_Som_Extra_Bytes.dds

this is the exact same URL :/
but normally the 3e thing is located after the .dds thing (before url)
normally would be: .dds$...(now url starts)
not always a $ sign

Hey Kunkstar7, nice job for this tutorial.

There isn't the same thing where the mood is write.

For the TMS environement (Island Bay & Coast), look at this screenshot :

RED : Dword => 04 00 00 00 => 00 00 00 04
(0x04 = 4 letters for the string DAY_ ; 44 61 79 20)

If you want to use a TMO's (Speed Snow & Rally) or a Stadium's Background, you must correct these bytes :

RED : DWORD become : 03 00 00 00 Because we have deleting the byte after the name of the mood (Day).

Finally, you must add 1 byte to the URL of a panel and change his Dworld.

(For the next, the technic doesn't change).

Lastly something I haven't figured out yet, I haven't been able to mix a Island map and add a background to it yet. Why? I'm not sure, I've followed everything perfectly yet still nothing. The weird thing is, you know where you look for 02 00 00 40? Island is different. It has 20 02 00 00 40. I'm not sure why the extra 20 is there. I've tried changing it, removing the 02, removing a 00, but I still haven't figured it out. If anyone gets it I'd gladly appreciate learning my mistake Smile . Maybe some environments don't mix, I don't know.

Thank you du02! Your post refers to the problem I was encountering, I make mention to it in the tutorial at the end.

But the most significant thing you pointed out to me was I needed to add a character to the URL! Out of all the mistakes how I made that silly one. I forgot to add one to balance the changes.

Hmmm this is weird, so far even following my tutorial perfectly I still haven't managed to mix any environments beside Snow and Stadium bases? I keep just getting blank crashes.

RE: How to : Environment Mixing Tutorial [ Expansive ]
Just made Island with Speed and Stadium background thanks to du02 solution (didn't thought about correcting mood name)

Kunkstar7, simply create a Island Day challenge with the panel and false URL.
Then correct the mood (03 00 00 00 Day) , delete the byte $20 (space in ASCII), and add a byte to your URL (and correct the URL length).

This Island map (with Island Challenge) is still recognize by the game (you can load it in editor)

So you will have a challenge in the same situation as a Speed/Snow/Stadium challenge and you can modify the background the same way as for a Snow challenge.

Don't forget to use 'water panel'. Don't add ground on the map or you will have problem with indexes if you put more than 1 ground bloc.
